AMY NILES GILLETT
Amy Gillett is a homegrown Oklahoma vocalist, musician, worship leader and vocal coach. She grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and currently resides in Tulsa. Amy’s performance experience began when she was young, performing at churches and community events in Oklahoma City and surrounding states. She studied voice under the instruction of Don Wilson of Oklahoma City University’s Performing Arts Academy for 4 years, where she studied Music Theater and classical styles of voice.
In college, she continued her studies at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Academy of Contemporary Music where she graduated with degrees in both Contemporary Vocal Performance and Music Business in May of 2014. Amy continues to learn and study under the instruction of Susan Wright of Oklahoma Christian University and Shelby Rollins of Brett Manning Studios in Nashville TN. Amy and her husband, Wes, lead worship at Church On the Move in Tulsa, OK.
In 2012 Amy started The Lesson House with her business partner, Tara Palmer where they offer one on one voice and piano lessons, stage coaching, audition prep-workshops, and songwriting. The duo often hold vocal technique and performance workshops around the city.
Tara Dillard Palmer
Tara Palmer is an Oklahoma City based singer, songwriter and private coach with a love for arranging and music production.
A lifelong musician from Mustang Oklahoma, Tara studied piano under the direction of Myra Schubert, M.M. for 9 years. Tara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Business from Oklahoma’s Academy of Contemporary Music and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies and Music Production from the University of Central Oklahoma’s Jazz Lab, which she regards as her highest accomplishment. Here she studied voice with Dr. Marilyn Govich, improvisation with Lee Rucker, arranging and composition with Zachary Lee and advanced recording and production techniques with Dennis Borycki and Patrick Conlon.
Along with colleague and business partner, Amy Gillett, Tara owns a teaching studio called The Lesson House where she teaches voice and piano to musicians of all ages, privately as well as collaboratively with intensive workshops, master classes and showcase events. As a member of the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association (OMTA), her students are actively involved in regional and state competitions.
Outside of music, Tara also has a love for film. She worked as the head Casting Assistant for Oklahoma's largest casting agency, Freihofer Casting. There she managed the agency's commercial and movie projects, taught acting classes to young actors and gained skills and experience in front of, as well as behind the camera. (Rudderless, 2014)
Tara enjoys incorporating jazz and R&B styles with fresh production elements into her original music. She feels most in her element when coaching and collaborating.
